Pangea Art Republic is an autonomous Art Republic with spaces in New York City and the El Yunque rainforest of Puerto Rico. It is diaspora territory where everyone is welcome. Without a center or margins, it is a continuous, mutable space that constantly being re-defined. The rainforest, the studio and the street are the stage and there are no boundaries between life and art.
Blurring the line between life and performance Papo Colo invites guests to discover his home and studio, the Casa Teatro. During the experience Colo will create a ritual portrait of each guest.
Vortex is a study of cosmic geometry found in its unrepeatable forms. Conceived as a multimedia installation, the exhibition is the result of a formal exploration initiated by the artist's return to Puerto Rico eight years ago. The exhibition will take place in August 2017 and will inaugurate the opening of the Pana House at Pangea Art Republic.
Trickster Theater presents: LUZBEL. The most sophisticated prostitute in the Americas will visit Pangea. The first night of the play will be staged simultaneously with the opening of the Vortex exhibition at the Pana House.
During Papo Colo's Ancho-Rite the 400 day period in which the Mystifarian will produce art in the solitude of El Yunque, the artist will attempt to archive the rainforest, exploring the taxonomies of nature, form texture and composition.
‘Procesión-Migración’ is a landmark performance work by Puerto Rican artist Papo Colo in the tropical rainforest of the El Yunque National Park, celebrating natures, arts, the tropical rain, El Yunque, and the famed work of Puerto Rican literature 'La Carreta' by René Marqués. The Procesión will culminate with the artist's retreat into the rainforest to embark up on Ancho-Rite a 400 day period of solitude in the rainforest during which Colo will treat the rainforest as studio, performance space and as an incubator of ideas.
